Applebee’s Florentine Ravioli with Chicken – Review

Applebee’s have recently added two new stuffed pasta dishes to its menu – Provolone Stuffed Meatballs and Florentine Ravioli with Chicken. And the good news is that both these menu items are available in its 2 for $20 menu.  So you can now savor the rich taste and aroma of these Italian dishes in Applebee’s 2 for $20 value menu.  These new items from Applebee’s menu can also be ordered as stand-alone items apart from the 2 for $20 menu.  The new stuffed pasta dishes now pair up with Applebees menu items which include Boneless Buffalo Wings, Fish N Chips, Riblets, Honey Grilled Salmon, and Chicken Quesadilla.  We have already reviewed ‘Provolone Stuffed Meatballs With Fettuccini‘ in our last post.  In this post, we will give a review of Applebee’s ‘Florentine Ravioli with Chicken’.

applebees florentine ravioliApplebees Florentine Ravioli Chicken comprises of half moon raviolis filled with a mixture of spinach and tender Italian cheese, served over a bed of spinach, chopped Bruschetta tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and roasted red peppers cooked with brown butter and herbs; and all this is topped with Applebee’s Alfredo sauce with roasted garlic.  And, on top of the dish you will find sliced grilled chicken and shaved Parmesan cheese, and the dish is served with breadstick.  The portions are quite generous and filling.

The effect of these contrasting ingredients is just marvelous.  The combination of the ravioli, grilled chicken, Alfredo sauce and spinach is really very delicious.  It is very difficult to get this taste in home made dishes.  The grilled chicken and pasta blended with other ingredients also have a great visually appeal.  The dish is also a good choice for those who love veggies as there are a lot of vegetables in the entrée.

Applebees menu has several pasta dishes apart from the Florentine Ravioli.  These include Chicken Broccoli Pasta Alfredo Bowl, Three Cheese Chicken Penne Pasta and Spicy Shrimp Diavolo.  If you order the new pasta dishes as stand-alone items, they are all priced at just $9.99.

We would rate the dish as 4.5 on a scale of 5.  There is one note however for the calorie conscious eater.  If you are looking for a lower calorie option, you can have this dish once in a while – but not regularly, even if its taste is addictive.   This dish has 1,320 calories coming from 88 gms of fat, 70 gms of carbs, 6 gms of fiber and 65 gms of proteins.  There are many healthy options in Applebee’s Weight Watcher’s menu and Under 550 calorie menu for health conscious people.

Applebee’s Provolone stuffed meatballs with Fetuccine- Review

Review of Applebees Provolone Stuffed Meatballs with Fettuccine

Applebee’s 2 for $20 menu deal offers a great value.  This is a super price saver where two people can share an appetizer and two entrees from the value menu for only $20.  The value menu is now stuffed with more flavors and includes two new pasta dishes – Provolone stuffed meatballs with Fetuccine and Florentine Ravioli with Chicken.  Other dishes which are available in the 2 for $20 menu are Riblet Basket, 7 oz. Sirloin, Chicken Tenders Basket, Three-Cheese Chicken Penne, Fiesta Lime Chicken, and Oriental Chicken Salad.  In this article,  we will review Provolone stuffed meatballs with Fetuccine.

applebees provolone stuffed meatballs fetuccineThe Provolone Stuffed Meatballs with Fettuccine looks very delicious from its picture in the menu.  The dish is basically Italian meatballs which have a stuffing  of rich creamy provolone cheese, basked in savory marinara and served on fettuccine pasta smothered with creamy Alfredo sauce.

The meatballs are of pretty good size and there’s quite a lot of provolone cheese stuffed inside them.  Provolone is indeed a good choice for cheese that goes very well in taste with the meatballs.  You’d absolutely love the combination.  There is also a hint of red chili pepper on the meatballs – that adds to the flavor but does not make it too spicy.  This particular dish does not come with any side dishes like garlic bread that normally accompany Applebees menu items. But, even without the extras, the pasta is quite filling.

Though this new exotic dish is very delicious, we should warn you that it is not for the calorie conscious eaters. America has a fetish for cheese and this dish is one prominent example.  Every item in this dish suffers from cheese overload.  Especially, the meatballs are served on a bed of fetuccine with creamy Alfredo sauce – which contains lot of butter, cheese and oil.  In fact, one serving of Applebee’s Provolone-Stuffed Meatballs with Fettuccine contains a whooping 1,550 calories !  Nutrition breakdown is : 15% protein, 29% carbs and 56% fat.

If you try a similar dish in a good Italian restaurant, it would not be better than what Applebee’s offers and you would have to pay a much higher price.  Next time, we will review Applebee’s Florentine Ravioli with Chicken.
